Avalanche Alliance and Elevated Riders Build Beacon Check Stations

Written by Avalanche Alliance News

Rigby, Idaho (Nov. 5, 2020)

Avalanche Alliance is proud to announce their latest safety initiative, helping provide beacon check stations for five major snowmobile parking areas in Island Park, Idaho. Funds for four of these check stations come from Avalanche Alliance fundraising activities. Elevated Riders have designed and built the stations, and provided funds for the remaining check station.

The new check stations will help riders ensure their avalanche transceivers are turned on and transmitting a signal as they leave the parking area. Avalanche Alliance and Elevated Riders are working with Fremont County Parks & Recreation, the US Forest Service and local groomer operators on this project.

Fremont County Parks & Recreation groomer operators will place and maintain the beacon check stations throughout the 2020-2021 season.

Avalanche Alliance is thankful for all fundraiser participants and all who’ve played a role in increasing safety for backcountry snowmobilers.
