Rigby, ID — October 9, 2025 — This fall, the Avalanche Alliance is hitting the road to bring life-saving avalanche awareness education directly to snowmobilers across the Dakotas. These free seminars are designed to empower riders with the knowledge they need to stay safe in the backcountry this winter.
Led by Jeff Hambelton, Motorized Program Manager at AIARE (American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education) and a passionate member of the Avalanche Alliance, the sessions will cover:
How to read and interpret avalanche forecasts
Recognizing red flags that signal increasing avalanche danger
Identifying avalanche terrain and how to avoid it
Connecting riders with motorized-specific avalanche education programs
Jeff brings years of professional avalanche education experience and a deep love for riding, making him the perfect guide for these engaging and informative sessions.
The Avalanche Alliance will make five stops at top motorsports dealerships across North and South Dakota, culminating in a final seminar at SnoFest at Deadwood Lodge—a must-attend event for winter motorsports enthusiasts.
Whether you're a seasoned rider or just getting started, these seminars offer essential tools to help you and your crew make smarter decisions in avalanche terrain.
